Come see for yourself! \nIn 1978\, Bowie “discovered” Devo and was instrumental in getting them a recoding contract. So it’s fitting to have Devomatix\, Atlanta’s premier Devo tribute\, as the opening act. Devomatix exists for one reason: to pay tribute to the iconic robotic-punk group from Akron. DESCRIPTION:Dave Potter is quickly becoming known as a formidable musician. He has performed with many well-known jazz artists and recorded 3 albums with Jason Marsalis. Following his graduation from Florida State University in 2005\, he was chosen from a national pool of applicants to be a member of the Louis Armstrong Quintet at the University of New Orleans. Unfortunately\, the tragedy of hurricane Katrina temporarily ended his hopes for a career in Louisiana. In the spring of 2006\, Dave was awarded a full scholarship to the prestigious Julliard Jazz Program in New York City. However\, after several days of intense meditation he declined the offer and returned to Florida State University\, where he received his Master’s Degree in the winter of 2008 after further collaboration with his mentor Marcus Roberts. In 2010\, Potter was featured in a novel entitled “The New Face of Jazz” about the younger generation of Jazz musicians making an impact in the current scene. Dave is now located in Atlanta where he maintains a busy teaching and performing schedule while also touring the globe as a member of The Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet. \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nTickets are not available for FREE shows. DESCRIPTION:Kai Martin has been singing and writing since she was little\, heavily influenced by her parents and classic musicians like Stevie Wonder\, Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack. She has performed in school choirs and various cover bands\, and has been a featured house music vocalist on projects with Solu Music and Ananda Project. She had the distinct honor of performing with ATL Collective at Venkman’s last September\, and enjoys regular “guest appearances” at Ms. Miller’s #IheARTandSOUL shows at Kat’s Cafe. Kai’s debut solo EP ‘All My Life’ is available on CD and all digital platforms. \nDarlene cut her teeth on piano stools and church pews in NE Mississippi\, otherwise known as Elvis country. Her earliest influences were southern gospel quartets and country artists such as Merle Haggard\, and she was later drawn toward the sounds of traditional and contemporary gospel\, jazz\, and blues. Despite holding a degree in piano and voice performance\, she prefers to learn everything by ear. She is credited for playing piano on three albums\, and is excited to play publicly again after many years away from music. \nJenny remembers well that fateful night at the Chinese restaurant in Lexington\, South Carolina\, when she consulted a fortune cookie for advice on whether to join the 5th grade band or orchestra. The cookie lied\, but she made a solid choice\, and her love of the viola stuck. Jenny played classical music dutifully until college\, when she started venturing out into folk music and wearing really bad hippie clothes. Once she hit the Athens music scene\, all bets were off\, and she had a spectacular time deciphering a great many new and different things you can do with music\, courtesy of playing with such cool cats as Flash to Bang Time\, Audition with Max Reinhardt\, and The Green Hornets. They have also been voted the Best Phish Tribute in the World two years in a row. On July 4th\, 2015\, after the second show of the Grateful Dead GD50 run\, Runaway Gin sold out the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago and catapulting them from a Southeastern regional act onto the National scene. The members of Runaway Gin have united with the goal of creating musical moments inspired by Phish. The band’s song list is constantly growing and their improvisational and communication skills are constantly developing independently and together. Like Phish\, Runaway Gin will never play the same show or jam the same way twice making every show a unique experience and every moment pure artistic creation.
