DESCRIPTION:Featuring Ben Bailey on drums and Dave Frackenpohl on guitar.  \nBorn in Chicago\, IL\, Matthew Kaminski has been playing the Hammond Organ since he was five years old. Studying under Chicago jazz pianist Gordon James in his teens\, Matthew was accepted into the University of Arizona’s jazz studies department as a jazz pianist. There\, he studied jazz with Dr. Jeffrey Haskell and Mike Eckroth\, and played in the jazz ensemble and combos as well as studying classical piano with Dr. Suzanne Knosp. Matthew also attended master classes by Wynton Marsalis and Kitty Margolis\, and performed with vibraphonists/marimba musicians Dave Samuels and Dave Friedman.  \nMatthew has a passion for jazz organ playing and has studied with Hammond B3 masters Ike Stubblefield\, Tony Monaco\, and Scott Giddens\, as well a sharing the stage with fellow organists Pat Bianchi\, Linda Dachtyl\, Wil Blades\, Todd Hildreth and guitarist Grant Green Jr. Additionally\, Matthew has been a full time piano teacher since 2001 and currently teaches at The North Fulton School of Music’s Atlanta locations\, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center\, and has taught at the college level for Georgia Tech in Atlanta\, GA. This production also features Stephens’ talents as a banjo player and songwriter. An invitation to the stage was sent to Neal Colledge (bass/vocals) and Brian Hekman (drums/vocals) whom\, before that night\, had never met. \nThe three men had such a great time performing together and not being boring that they decided right there on that very stage in the small town of Canton\, GA that their quest of aural endeavors was only beginning. Their collective love for pop-turned-rock cover songs and influence from the sounds of 90’s rock and Motown with dashes of classic blues and pop led the trio into writing their own material as well. From Neo-Soul to New Jack Swing to Hip Hop/Soul fusion\, R&B of the 90’s was the last decade to reinvent boy bands\, to spotlight male crooners\, and to give rise to the “naturally” sexy\, soul brother.  Teddy Riley\, Babyface\, and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis became non-stop music factories while young upstarts like Sean “Puffy” Combs\, Dallas Austin\, and Jermaine Dupree were quickly coming into their own.  And with competition from some of the top-selling music divas of all time\, artists like Maxwell\, Babyface\, Keith Sweat\, and Johnny Gil were among just some of the male stars that kept their female audiences happy with a mix of uptempo dance anthems AND smooth\, sexy ballads. \nVenkman’s and Hot Ice LIVE are proud to present a tribute to 90’s R&B Soul Men starring singer/songwriter Tony Tatum. He has also toured with New Edition\, Ne-Yo\, and Howard Hewitt among others\, and has been featured on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
