SUMMARY:Led Zeppelin vs. the Who\, a Rock Fight performed by Yacht Rock Revue
DESCRIPTION:You’re welcome! The Yacht Rock Revue™ is the Greatest Show on Surf and the finest tribute to ‘70s light rock to ever perform anywhere. Ever. Their spot-on renditions of Hall & Oates\, Michael McDonald\, Steely Dan\, and the rest of the Time-Life Infomercial Catalog have enthralled fans across the United States. It goes without saying they have taken their act to the high seas\, performing showcase sets on music cruises with Weezer\, Kid Rock\, Train\, Zac Brown Band\, Sister Hazel\, and fitness guru Jillian Michaels. \nBy blurring the lines between a tribute\, an original act\, and a comedic troupe\, the Yacht Rock Revue™ has forged a unique niche market and a special bond with their fans. The band attacks each song as if it were their own\, and the energy exchanged between the band and the crowd has more in common with a stadium U2 show than that of a typical bar band. \nThe band has won accolades ranging from “Best Place to Get Drunk With Your Dad” to “Best Overall Music Act in Atlanta” to “Best Place to Start an Extramarital Affair\,” and has been name-dropped by the New York Times\, Pitchfork\, the Guardian UK\, Spin\, TimeOut New York\, Billboard\, MTV.com\, and (probably) your mom at her last cocktail party. \nSpeaking of name-dropping\, members of the band have played on-stage with members of Weezer\, Billy Joel\, Walter Egan\, .38 Special\, John Mayer\, Zac Brown Band\, Little River Band\, Sheryl Crow\, Noel Gallagher\, Starbuck\, Sarah McLachlan\, Don Henley\, Lynyrd Skynyrd\, Neil Finn\, Jellyfish\, Devo\, Nine Inch Nails\, Joan Jett\, Wet Willie\, Bon Jovi\, Skid Row\, and the Saturday Night Live Band. (None of those were a joke.) \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. Bar area seating is reserved on a first-come\, first-serve basis. \nAdditional reservations are not required if a table\, booth\, or banquette has been purchased via Ticketfly. \nReservations for the Captain’s Room (semi-private dining room) can be reserved for parties of 12-20 guests. For more info call 470-225-6162\, or email info@venkmans.com

SUMMARY:Bottomless Mimosa Brunch w/Ansley Stewart and Friends
DESCRIPTION:Whether singing one of her originals for an intimate audience\, or a Hall & Oates song for a wedding crowd\, Atlanta-based singer Ansley Stewart has been turning heads everywhere she goes and is poised to turn many more. Until recently\, she was a part-time musician and a full-time academic advisor for The University of Georgia’s Music Business program in her hometown of Athens. She had been singing semi-professionally in her free time for over a decade but her love of music\, her ambitions\, and her voice were just too big for her old life to hold. The turning point from weekend warrior to full-time singer/songwriter came in 2015 and she isn’t looking back. A stack of original songs\, a head full of influences like Aretha Franklin\, Susan Tedeschi and Bonnie Raitt (“no shrinking violets”)\, and hundreds of donations to a successful Kickstarter campaign have culminated in the completion of her first record and CD release in March. \nAlthough singing is not new to Ansley\, the desire to write her own songs is a recent development. “It’s all pretty personal right now\,” she says. “There are some really big stories and moments in my life that I feel like I need to get out through songwriting. But I still want to make it universal enough that someone else could say ‘Wow\, I’ve been through that’ or ‘Damn\, that’s catchy as hell.’” \nAnsley had been involved in music since her late teens\, singing in cover bands and doing session work for her friends’ original projects. She loved making music and felt an urge to do more\, but was in the middle of a secure career and was hesitant to change course. In 2014\, the Atlanta-based Emerald Empire Band began throwing gigs her way. The Emerald crew was taken by her savvy professionalism\, positivity to spare\, and voice to be reckoned with\, and they soon began imploring her to move to Atlanta. Life in Athens wasn’t bad for Ansley; she had a good job and owned a house. But she knew music was her greatest joy and on her 30th birthday\, made the decision to follow that path. She quit her job\, sold her house\, moved to Atlanta\, and has been singing nonstop ever since. \nThe career change has resulted in a happier Ansley than ever before. The music she makes every day and especially the people she makes it with are fulfilling her in ways she only dreamed of. In addition to finding her voice as an original artist and her footing as a professional\, she has found a supportive\, creative and generous musical family in her new home. “I’ve always wanted to be around creative people—in the treehouse\, as I say—and that’s what Atlanta has been. I didn’t even have to knock on the door. It was just open and everyone inside was like ‘Yo girl\, c’mon in! We got cake!’” \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. \nAdditional reservations are not required if a table\, booth or banquette have been purchased via Ticketfly. \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show. For example\, you may not be able to reserve a table at 7:00pm and keep it for a 9:00pm show. The only way to guarantee a seat for the show is to purchase booth or banquette tickets. Reservations for some table (4-top) seating may be available at www.venkmans.com (see “Reservations”)\, or by calling 470-225-6162. \nBar area and patio seating is reserved on a first-come\, first-serve basis. \nReservations for the Captain’s Room (private dining room) can be reserved for parties of 12-20 guests. SUMMARY:Chicken Pickin' Brunch with Dusty Roads
DESCRIPTION:Dusty Roads is a high-energy Georgia-grown Americana band\, formed by Atlanta based musician\, John Mickelson. When you’re at a Dusty Roads show\, expect to hear influences of the legends of country and bluegrass music\, such as Merle Haggard\, Flatt & Scruggs\, Willie Nelson\, Buck Owens\, and Bill Monroe. You can also expect sprinklings of songs and sounds of the great writers and musicians from across the globe and halls of time\, like Django Reinhardt\, Duke Ellington\, and Irving Berlin. “Come take a trip\, down that long\, dusty road”.\n Comprised of some of the Southeasts finest pickers and singers\, the band is ever evolving and growing. “We’re all Georgia boys” says Mickelson of the band members\, which features Jared Lanham on mandolin and tabla – the traditional Indian hand-drum. “Colt Bowen has one of the lightest touches of any drummer in town” says Mickelson of the Dusty Roads drummer. Fiddlin’ phenom Danny Bermel joined the group in late 2016\, and adds an agile musical flare that pushes their musical crescendos to another level of fever-pitch. Dusty Roads is constantly searching for that sound\, that lick\, that twangy hook that sinks deep into the listener’s soul and pulls them into the unfolding story of each song. The group cherishes the purity of silvery strings ringing together harmoniously. The band champions comradery\, respect for the craft of their instruments\, and finely constructed songs that feel as if they soar down from the mountaintop to resonate the listener’s heart-strings.\n “We came here with one purpose\, to have a blast playing and performing live acoustic music”- says Mickelson\, singer/songwriter for Dusty Roads. Growing up in Atlanta\, he was surrounded by a diverse world of cultures\, food\, and music. “My great-grandfather was a mandolin player from Germany\, so I guess it just runs in the blood”\, says Mickelson of his musical lineage. Like a rear-view mirror in a pick-up truck\, Dusty Roads looks back through the history of written and recorded music\, studying fervently to find just what made each of these classic songs so special and unique. Just like ‘looking backwards to go forwards’\, Mickelson applies this approach to writing original material for the band.\n During the Winter of 2017\, Dusty Roads went into the studio to begin recording its debut self-titled album. The album will feature music inspired by life\, love\, and heartache. “Life is heavy\, but music can make your bags a little lighter” – Dusty Roads \nTICKETING/RESERVATION INFO: \nTickets are not available for FREE shows. SUMMARY:Atlanta Funk Society
DESCRIPTION:Atlanta Funk Society is a Funk band from Atlanta\, GA\, playing classic hits from the ’60s\, ’70s and ’80s\, including everything from “Superbad” by James Brown\, to “Whatcha Gonna Do For Me” by Chaka Kahn. \nStarted in the summer of 2010\, the Atlanta Funk Society brought together a collection of some of the best musicians Atlanta had to offer. Founding members guitarist and vocalist Rob Lane (the Apostles) and bass player Kevin Scott (Col. Bruce Hampton\, and others too numerous to mention) wanted to fill the need for a hard hitting funk band playing classic hits from the 60’s\, 70’s and 80’s. \nTheir first call was to Jonathan Lloyd(Cadillac Jones\, Lloyds Rocksteady Review)\, local trombone player and vocalist to put together the horn section which has included Deniz Felder\, Jason Collier\, Jon Marett (Willie Nelson\, Waylon Jennings\, OutKast\, Goodie Mob)\, Prof. Eric Fontaine (just about every great band in Atlanta)\, and Taylor Kennedy (Soulphonics\, Blair Crimmins). Next to join were guitarist Nick Johnson(Last Waltz Ensemble\, Pharoh Gummitt) and drummer Duane Trucks(Derek Trucks\, Pharoh Gummit) lending their unrivaled musicianship to the group. The keyboards were manned by Florida transplant and first call pianist Nick Rosen. Scotty Bryan (Cinetrope\, 3052 dub Collective) stepped up the bands’ vibe with the addition of percussion. \nThe next critical piece was a female vocalist\, and after a long search\, Michelle Marshall came into the fold and showed what was up. The last piece was additional percussionist Yaya Brown to provide the perfect complement to Scotty Bryan and complete the driving rhythms of AFS. \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. \nAdditional reservations are not required if booth\, table\, or banquette tickets have been purchased via Ticketfly. \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show.
