SUMMARY:Atlanta Funk Society
DESCRIPTION:Atlanta Funk Society is a Funk band from Atlanta\, GA\, playing classic hits from the ’60s\, ’70s and ’80s\, including everything from “Superbad” by James Brown\, to “Whatcha Gonna Do For Me” by Chaka Kahn.  \nStarted in the summer of 2010\, the Atlanta Funk Society brought together a collection of some of the best musicians Atlanta had to offer. Founding members guitarist and vocalist Rob Lane (the Apostles) and bass player Kevin Scott (Col. Bruce Hampton\, and others too numerous to mention) wanted to fill the need for a hard hitting funk band playing classic hits from the 60’s\, 70’s and 80’s.  \nTheir first call was to Jonathan Lloyd(Cadillac Jones\, Lloyds Rocksteady Review)\, local trombone player and vocalist to put together the horn section which has included Deniz Felder\, Jason Collier\, Jon Marett (Willie Nelson\, Waylon Jennings\, OutKast\, Goodie Mob)\, Prof. Eric Fontaine (just about every great band in Atlanta)\, and Taylor Kennedy (Soulphonics\, Blair Crimmins). Next to join were guitarist Nick Johnson(Last Waltz Ensemble\, Pharoh Gummitt) and drummer Duane Trucks(Derek Trucks\, Pharoh Gummit) lending their unrivaled musicianship to the group. The keyboards were manned by Florida transplant and first call pianist Nick Rosen. Scotty Bryan (Cinetrope\, 3052 dub Collective) stepped up the bands’ vibe with the addition of percussion.  \nThe next critical piece was a female vocalist\, and after a long search\, Michelle Marshall came into the fold and showed what was up. The last piece was additional percussionist Yaya Brown to provide the perfect complement to Scotty Bryan and complete the driving rhythms of AFS. \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. \nAdditional reservations are not required if booth\, table\, or banquette tickets have been purchased via Ticketfly. \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show. Maybe when the lights go lower and the bar is filling\,  they turn up a bit and this potent blend sounds a bit like Rock & Roll\, the way your grandpappy thought of it. \nThe story of Coyote Anyway is a long road with many forks. Comprised of Dave Kirslis \, Matt Garrison\, Zeke Sayer and Matthew Pendrick\, the group has roots that run deep. All born and raised in Georgia\, the members of this coyote collective have steeped in the rich music culture of the south\, and digested its potent tonic to heart. It’s the sound of old friends coming together to play what comes naturally and what feels good. Over the years they have shared a thousand stages with some of the best around. “A real appreciation for tradition doesn’t mean you must be tied to the past…really it’s freeing. To use those sounds and ideas as spring board to our own twist on it\, not unlike the way any one of our heroes did in their day.” \n“Every member of this group is doing really great things on their own and with other projects and such\,” says Pendrick. “I think that’s part of what makes it so fun. SUMMARY:Chicken Pickin' Brunch with Dusty Roads
DESCRIPTION:Dusty Roads is a high-energy Georgia-grown Americana band\, formed by Atlanta based musician\, John Mickelson.  When you’re at a Dusty Roads show\, expect to hear influences of the legends of country and bluegrass music\, such as Merle Haggard\, Flatt & Scruggs\, Willie Nelson\, Buck Owens\, and Bill Monroe.  You can also expect sprinklings of songs and sounds of the great writers and musicians from across the globe and halls of time\, like Django Reinhardt\, Duke Ellington\, and Irving Berlin.  “Come take a trip\, down that long\, dusty road”.\n            Comprised of some of the Southeasts finest pickers and singers\, the band is ever evolving and growing.  “We’re all Georgia boys” says Mickelson of the band members\, which features Jared Lanham on mandolin and tabla – the traditional Indian hand-drum.  “Colt Bowen has one of the lightest touches of any drummer in town” says Mickelson of the Dusty Roads drummer.  Fiddlin’ phenom Danny Bermel joined the group in late 2016\, and adds an agile musical flare that pushes their musical crescendos to another level of fever-pitch.  Dusty Roads is constantly searching for that sound\, that lick\, that twangy hook that sinks deep into the listener’s soul and pulls them into the unfolding story of each song.  The group cherishes the purity of silvery strings ringing together harmoniously.  The band champions comradery\, respect for the craft of their instruments\, and finely constructed songs that feel as if they soar down from the mountaintop to resonate the listener’s heart-strings.\n            “We came here with one purpose\, to have a blast playing and performing live acoustic music”- says Mickelson\, singer/songwriter for Dusty Roads.   Growing up in Atlanta\, he was surrounded by a diverse world of cultures\, food\, and music.  “My great-grandfather was a mandolin player from Germany\, so I guess it just runs in the blood”\, says Mickelson of his musical lineage.  Like a rear-view mirror in a pick-up truck\, Dusty Roads looks back through the history of written and recorded music\, studying fervently to find just what made each of these classic songs so special and unique.  Just like ‘looking backwards to go forwards’\, Mickelson applies this approach to writing original material for the band.\n            During the Winter of 2017\, Dusty Roads went into the studio to begin recording its debut self-titled album.
