SUMMARY:Secondhand Swagger
DESCRIPTION:Secondhand Swagger is more than a name; it’s a lifestyle. We’re an Atlanta-based band with a passion for vintage sounds and style\, disciples of soul music from the 1960s and 70s. Our mission is to keep this music alive and people dancing\, taking it back to a time when lyrics and melodies came from the heart with a wink and a laugh. \nSecondhand Swagger was just a dream when Abby Wren (vocals) and Scott Bryan (drums and vocals) got together in 2008\, spending every Sunday for a year in a song-writing sojourn. Secondhand grew member by member and the family no includes Tiffany White (keys\, vocals)\, Rob Lane (guitar\, vocals) and Jairaj Swann (bass\, hot peppers). \nWe believe we’re soulmates brought together to keep this vintage sound alive. \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. Bar area seating is reserved on a first-come\, first-serve basis. \nAdditional reservations are not required if table\, booth\, or banquette tickets have been purchased via Ticketfly. \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show. For example\, if you reserve seats for 7:00pm dinner\, it is unlikely that you’ll be able to keep it for a 9:00pm show. The only way to guarantee a seat for the show is to purchase booth\, table\, or banquette tickets via Ticketfly. \nReservations for the Captain’s Room (private dining room) can be reserved for parties of 12-20 guests. SUMMARY:Charles Walker Band & Wasted Potential Brass Band
DESCRIPTION:Deliciously Stanky\, Dynamically Funky\, Recklessly Hopeful. Grounded in soul\, the Charles Walker Band has been compared to Prince\, Bruno Mars\, The Brand New Heavys\, James Brown and Sharon Jones. The Milwaukee based band has refined their sound into Neo-Funk\, a fusion of funk and soul infused rhythms with pop melodies. The seven piece band rehearses relentlessly in Charles’ basement\, amidst couches and low ceilings\, the trombonist having to stoop the entire time\, continually evolving their performance. These questions are continually posed: How can we make this sound tighter? How can we arrange this to make it more stimulating? How can we make this song look visually different? They combine this quest for musical excellence with deep gospel influences and positive lyrical messages. The Charles Walker Band is Deliciously Stanky\, Dynamically Funky\, Recklessly Hopeful. \n As a testament to their live magic\, the group has opened for national acts including Earth Wind & Fire\, Aaron Neville\, Robert Cray\, BB King\, Richard Marx\, Eddie Shaw (Howlin Wolf’s Sax Player)\, Booker T\, Cameo and Bernard Allison. The ensemble has been featured on Fox News\, NBC “Live in the Morning\,” nationally syndicated “Discover Wisconsin\,” and was the featured artist on the Blues Revue (2010) and Soul Bag (2007) sampler CDs and has been nominated four years in a row for best soul/r&b act in Wisconsin by WAMI\, winning the award in 2013. \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. \nAdditional reservations are not required if booth\, table\, or banquette tickets have been purchased via Ticketfly. \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show. SUMMARY:Chicken Pickin' Brunch with Rodeo Twister
DESCRIPTION:Rodeo Twister play original rockabilly and honky-tonk music the way God intended it: without the use of them demon drums! But don’t worry your toes won’t tap or your hips won’t shake. The slap of the upright bass and the chugga-chugga of the rhythm guitar keep the beat just as good as the crack of snare – maybe even better. The three Twisters are veterans of Atlanta’s “Redneck Underground” roots music scene and have been members of so many “Best of Atlanta” lists they’ve lost count. Now all together for the first time\, they’re bringing a huge crop of brand-new songs and choice covers plus a secret weapon – some of the sweetest two and three-part harmonies you’ve ever heard. And you can hear ‘em\, too… without all that bangedy-bang of them demon drums! \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nTickets are not available for FREE shows. The benefit lands at Venkman’s on March 31/April 1 and April 21/22. \nAdmission price: Pay what you want! \nAre you a performer interested in participating? Please visit\nhttp://www.songsforkids.org/500SongsForKids to submit an application to perform. \nAll proceeds benefit Songs For Kids Foundation: \nSongs For Kids Foundation exists to give kids battling serious illness opportunities to be creative and express themselves through music. We’ve brought music into hospitals all over the US and run regular programs in children’s hospitals in 5 states. Songs for Kids musicians perform in-hospital mini concerts for whole floors of patients and make individual bedside visits for kids who don’t have the chance to leave their rooms. We’re not there to just play a couple of songs\, provide a distraction\, and leave; our goal is to form the kinds of meaningful relationships that it takes to help kids deal with their illnesses through creativity. \nIn addition to hospital performances\, we provide opportunities for\nsongwriting and recording to give kids a chance to put their\nexperiences into words and feel a sense of accomplishment. This year\, we’ll be taking that work one step further by launching a one-on-one music mentorship program that will be available to kids both in and out of the hospital. Kids who join the program will work with their own Songs For Kids musician on a dedicated music project. Whether that means songwriting\, singing lessons\, or learning an instrument\, we can’t wait to see and showcase the awesome work they do together. \nSongs For Kids: we’re honored to rock with the kids who need us most. \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nDonations are highly encouraged and can be accepted at the door. \nAdvance dinner reservations are highly encouraged and can be made at venkmans.com\, or by calling 470-225-6162.

SUMMARY:Rumpke Mountain Boys
DESCRIPTION:Rumpke Mountain Boys combine signature vocals\, a unique command of string instruments (acoustic guitar\, mandolin\, upright bass and banjo) and dynamic special effects into a singular musical experience. An emotion filled musical stream of consciousness with no setlist\, minimal structure\, and intuitive improvisational flow. In this way\, they summon the energy of the crowd as their guide in linking just the right music to precise moments in time. \nGrateful Dead Hour host David Gans proclaimed\, “One of the things I love about the Rumpke Mountain Boys is that there’s a fundamental honesty in their presentation. This is something they share with my other heroes\, Donna the Buffalo and the Grateful Dead. They don’t make set lists ahead of time\, they don’t rehearse their songs to a fare-thee-well– they perform in real time. All four of them write\, which is very important\, and they draw songs from a tremendous variety of sources… being a musician is a life-long learning experience\, if you’re doing it right\, and they are.” \nLike playing around a campfire\, the Boys take turns calling the next tune\, distilling shows from a sea of infinite notes created from years of jamming. Drawing upon a growing catalog of originals and and an ecclectic mix of covers\, the Rumpke Mountain Boys blend music like a fine Irish whiskey– the result affectionately dubbed Trashgrass. The Boys titled their 2012 album release with the same name\, followed by their 2013 release\, Moon\, which was recorded at the famed Royal Studios in Memphis. 2016’s High Time\, Low Tide marks the release of their 4th self-produced album. \n2016 was outstanding for the string quartet. The Boys broke new ground throughout the the country including Colorado\, California\, Oregon\, and the Southeast. Finishing up the year with two stellar highlights\, their own Snuggleween and the Rumpke Mountain Boys New Years Eve Ball in their hometown of Cincinnati. \n2017 promises to be even better\, with extensive touring from coast to coast and the best festival lineup yet. Keep your ear to the ground because the Rumpke Mountain Boys are rolling into a town near you! \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. SUMMARY:Atlanta Funk Society
DESCRIPTION:Atlanta Funk Society is a Funk band from Atlanta\, GA\, playing classic hits from the ’60s\, ’70s and ’80s\, including everything from “Superbad” by James Brown\, to “Whatcha Gonna Do For Me” by Chaka Kahn. \nStarted in the summer of 2010\, the Atlanta Funk Society brought together a collection of some of the best musicians Atlanta had to offer. Founding members guitarist and vocalist Rob Lane (the Apostles) and bass player Kevin Scott (Col. Bruce Hampton\, and others too numerous to mention) wanted to fill the need for a hard hitting funk band playing classic hits from the 60’s\, 70’s and 80’s. \nTheir first call was to Jonathan Lloyd(Cadillac Jones\, Lloyds Rocksteady Review)\, local trombone player and vocalist to put together the horn section which has included Deniz Felder\, Jason Collier\, Jon Marett (Willie Nelson\, Waylon Jennings\, OutKast\, Goodie Mob)\, Prof. Eric Fontaine (just about every great band in Atlanta)\, and Taylor Kennedy (Soulphonics\, Blair Crimmins). Next to join were guitarist Nick Johnson(Last Waltz Ensemble\, Pharoh Gummitt) and drummer Duane Trucks(Derek Trucks\, Pharoh Gummit) lending their unrivaled musicianship to the group. The keyboards were manned by Florida transplant and first call pianist Nick Rosen. Scotty Bryan (Cinetrope\, 3052 dub Collective) stepped up the bands’ vibe with the addition of percussion. \nThe next critical piece was a female vocalist\, and after a long search\, Michelle Marshall came into the fold and showed what was up. The last piece was additional percussionist Yaya Brown to provide the perfect complement to Scotty Bryan and complete the driving rhythms of AFS.
