SUMMARY:Chicken Pickin' Brunch w/ Dusty Roads
DESCRIPTION:Dusty Roads is a high-energy Georgia-grown Americana band\, formed by Atlanta based musician\, J.L. Mickelson. When you’re at a Dusty Roads show\, expect to hear influences of the legends of country and bluegrass music\, such as Merle Haggard\, Flatt & Scruggs\, Willie Nelson\, Buck Owens\, and Bill Monroe. You can also expect sprinklings of songs and sounds of the great writers and musicians from across the globe and halls of time\, like Django Earnhardt\, Duke Ellington\, and Irving Berlin. “Come take a trip\, down that long\, dusty road”. \nComprised of some of the Southeast regions finest pickers and singers\, the band is ever evolving and growing. They’re constantly searching for that sound\, that lick\, that twangy hook that sinks deep into the listener’s soul and pulls them into the unfolding story of each song. Dusty Roads cherishes the purity of silvery steel strings ringing together harmoniously. The band champions comradery\, respect for the craft of their instruments\, and finely constructed songs that feel as if they soar down from the mountaintop to resonate the listener’s heart-strings. \n“We came here with one purpose\, to have a blast playing and performing live acoustic music”- J.L. Mickelson\, singer/songwriter for Dusty Roads. Growing up in Atlanta\, Mickelson was surrounded by a diverse world of cultures and music his whole life. “My great-grandfather was a mandolin player from Germany\, so I guess it just runs in the blood”\, says Mickelson of his musical lineage. Like a rear-view mirror in a pick-up truck\, Dusty Roads looks back through the history of written and recorded music\, studying fervently to decipher just what made each of these classic songs so special and unique. Just like ‘looking backwards to go forwards’\, Mickelson applies this approach to writing original material for the band. \nDuring the Winter of 2015\, Dusty Roads went into the studio to begin recording its debut self-titled album. Due out in the Spring 2016\, the album will feature all original music inspired by life\, love\, heartache. “Life is heavy\, but music can make your bags a little lighter” – J.L. Mickelson \nTICKETING/RESERVATION INFO: \nTickets are not available for FREE shows. For seating at a FREE show\, please make reservations for the appropriate time at www.venkmans.com (see “Reservations”)\, or by calling 470-225-6162.

SUMMARY:Yacht Rock Revue performs The Beatles' Abbey Road
DESCRIPTION:You’re Welcome! The Yacht Rock Revue™ is the Greatest Show on Surf and the finest tribute to ‘70s light rock to ever perform anywhere. Ever. Their spot-on renditions of Hall & Oates\, Michael McDonald\, Steely Dan\, and the rest of the Time-Life Infomercial Catalog have enthralled fans across the United States. It goes without saying they have taken their act to the high seas\, performing showcase sets on music cruises with Weezer\, Kid Rock\, Train\, Zac Brown Band\, Sister Hazel\, and fitness guru Jillian Michaels. Additionally\, they have performed with music stars including: Gary Wright\, Rick Derringer\, Al Stewart\, Robbie Dupree\, and fellas from Chicago\, Toto\, and .38 Special. The Yacht Rock Revue is fresh off a gig at the Playboy Mansion and a music cruise with Train\, where John Oates joined them on stage to perform “She’s Gone”. \nBy blurring the lines between a tribute\, an original act\, and a comedic troupe\, the Yacht Rock Revue™ has forged a unique niche market and a special bond with their fans. The band attacks each song as if it were their own\, and the energy exchanged between the band and the crowd has more in common with a stadium U2 show than that of a typical bar band. \nThe band has won accolades ranging from “Best Place to Get Drunk With Your Dad” to “Best Overall Music Act in Atlanta” to “Best Place to Start an Extramarital Affair\,” and has been name-dropped by the New York Times\, Pitchfork\, the Guardian UK\, Spin\, TimeOut New York\, Billboard\, MTV.com\, and (probably) your mom at her last cocktail party. \nSpeaking of name-dropping\, members of the band have played on-stage with members of Weezer\, Billy Joel\, Walter Egan\, .38 Special\, John Mayer\, Zac Brown Band\, Little River Band\, Sheryl Crow\, Noel Gallagher\, Starbuck\, Sarah McLachlan\, Don Henley\, Lynyrd Skynyrd\, Neil Finn\, Jellyfish\, Devo\, Nine Inch Nails\, Joan Jett\, Wet Willie\, Bon Jovi\, Skid Row\, and the Saturday Night Live Band. (None of those were a joke.) \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. Bar area seating is reserved on a first-come\, first-serve basis. \nAdditional reservations are not required if table\, booth\, or banquette tickets have been purchased via Ticketfly. \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show. For example\, if you reserve seats for 7:00pm dinner\, it is unlikely that you’ll be able to keep it for a 9:00pm show. The only way to guarantee a seat for the show is to purchase booth\, table\, or banquette tickets via Ticketfly. \nReservations for the Captain’s Room (private dining room) can be reserved for parties of 12-20 guests. SUMMARY:EARLY SHOW: Michael Magno
DESCRIPTION:Magno – derived from the Latin adjective magna\, meaning “of greatness”…
Somewhere in the definition\, Michael Magno inherited the drive to become a serious singer/songwriter. Spoon-fed his influences by radio-loving parents\, Michael wrote his first song at age 14 and never looked back. By today’s standards\, you can compare him to such contemporaries as Bruno Mars and OneRepublic\, with a smooth vocal reminiscent of Sting or Marvin Gaye. In 1998\, the Florida native transplanted to Atlanta and began performing his originals solo acoustic or with the his band\, MAGNO. He quickly gained popularity at such venues as Eddie’s Attic\, Smith’s Olde Bar and other music rooms around Atlanta. His sound is an organic blend of rock and soul\, with an undeniable pop sensibility. Drawing inspiration from coffee and 80’s radio\, Magno’s songs are a personal invite into familiarity. His songs convey broad takes on love and hope\, while letting his listeners embrace the lyrics in their own singularity. Live performances showcase Magno’s natural abilities: lucid vocals\, comfort on guitar and piano\, an alluring demeanor and boy-next-door smile. With every show\, Magno continues to draw a growing fan base\, validating his stride as a serious songwriter and performer. Find him on Facebook\, Twitter and Instagram @mrmagnomusic \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nTickets are not available for FREE shows. SUMMARY:Chicken Pickin' Brunch with Wyatt Espalin
DESCRIPTION:With the Ocoee River in East Tennessee as the backdrop\, and North Georgia on the horizon\, Wyatt Espalin’s debut album\, The Pardon (April\, 2013)\, was born. Entertaining audiences in his hometown of Hiawassee\, Georgia as early as age eleven\, Wyatt’s passion for music was obvious\, even from the barn room stage built by his grandfather. He and his brother Matt were known as “The Fiddling Brothers.” While Matt hung up his fiddle and bow after high school\, Wyatt was just getting started. Armed with a guitar and a desire to write songs\, he paired with Cobi Ferguson to form the acclaimed Americana duo\, Trees Leave. Combining electric guitar with traditional bluegrass roots led to a noticeably unique sound and a growing fan base. Having years of touring under their belts and two successful albums\, Run (2008) and The Gospel of Hurt (2010)\, it was time for Cobi to settle down\, and Wyatt to find a new setting fit for a more personal level of songwriting. So alone began his sabbatical to the Ocoee\, and his debut album\, The Pardon\, which in ten songs provides ten glimpses into breakups\, burdens\, colorful britches\, and the light on the other side of it all.

Playing in Sean’s band allowed them the opportunity to play with blues legends such as Jody Williams\, Hubert Sumlin\, Pinetop Perkins\, James Cotton\, and Elvis Costello. They played on three of Sean’s CD’s in addition to numerous local sessions including the Grammy-Award winning gospel act\, the Blind Boy’s of Alabama. \nThe horn section is made up of accomplished musicians who are band leaders in their own right. On trombone and vocals is Jonathon Lloyd who also fronts the reggae band Lloyd’s Rock Steady Review. Saxophonist/singer Will Scruggs is also the leader of organ group CC Booker III. The band plays New Orleans Funk and R&B along the lines of Professor Longhair and the Funky Meters. We also mix in Memphis Soul\, originals\, jazz\, blues\, and latin. The band’s first CD\, “Repurpose”\, was released in April of 2012. Jam Band and percussion legend Count M’Butu joined the band for a year and a half before his retirement to Argentina in 2014. The band is hard at work on their next recording due out in 2015. \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table.
SUMMARY:Cindy Wilson (of The B-52s)
DESCRIPTION:Cindy Wilson:\nCindy Wilson is a vocalist\, songwriter and a founding member of new wave rock band The B-52s. She is currently producing solo work and performing a new show called “Change”. \nThe B-52’s:\nThe B-52’s were formed in 1976. Cindy Wilson\, her older brother and guitarist Ricky Wilson\, organist and vocalist Kate Pierson\, drummer and percussionist Keith Strickland\, and vocalist Fred Schneider played an impromptu musical jam session after sharing a tropical Flaming Volcano drink at a local Chinese restaurant. They later played their first concert in 1977 at a Valentine’s Day party for their friends. Cindy Wilson and the others broke into the music world with their campy\, ’60s retro band. Their 1979 debut album The B-52’s\, yielded the hit singles “Rock Lobster” and “Planet Claire” and launched the band into stardom. \nThe 1980s and 1990s:\nOn April 21\, 1985\, Cindy Wilson married Keith Bennett\, a successful advertiser who was a longtime friend of the band and Ricky’s guitar tech on tour. Ricky Wilson died later that year\, leaving her devastated. Cindy Wilson took a sabbatical from the band in 1990 to concentrate on raising a family. Wilson rejoined The B-52’s in 1994. In 1998 she took part in recordings from which two new songs were selected to be included along with the band’s hit singles on the album Time Capsule: Songs for a Future Generation. Wilson then took maternity leave in 1999\, later rejoining the band in 2001 for regular touring of their greatest hits. \nMore B-52s:\nThe B-52’s completed the album Funplex in 2007 and it was released in March 2008. Wilson co-wrote every song on the album with the three other band members. In all\, she has co-written much of the band’s back catalogue\, including “Dance This Mess Around”\, “Private Idaho” and all of the Cosmic Thing album including hit singles “Love Shack” and “Roam”. Her vocal efforts include the typical B-52’s “call-and-response” vocals with Schneider and/or Pierson\, as well as her harmonies with Pierson on the band’s all-female songs such as “Roam”\, “52 Girls”\, “Cake”\, “Legal Tender”\, “Summer of Love” and “Juliet of the Spirits”. One of the band’s signature elements is the setup between the three vocalists. However\, Wilson sings the greatest number of solo performances in the band\, especially on their earlier albums. Examples of Cindy’s solo vocal performances in The B-52’s include “Hero Worship”\, “Loveland”\, “Nip It in the Bud”\, “Girl from Ipanema Goes to Greenland”\, “Ain’t It a Shame”\, “She Brakes for Rainbows” and the live favorite “Give Me Back My Man”. \nCindy’s Current Musical Work:\nIn September 2016 Cindy Wilson released a limited edition “Sunrise” EP of newly produced material and announced an upcoming release of the already completed full-length “Change”. Her group includes producer / engineer Suny Lyons (pacificUV\, Dream Boat\, Phosphorescent\, Hope For Agoldensummer\, Honeychild\, Lovers)\, Ryan Monahan (Easter Island\, Monahan)\, Lemuel Hayes (pacificUV) and Marie Davon (powerkompany). In Cindy’s latest show\, “Change” (also her upcoming album title)\, she swoons and whispers over swirls of subtle psychedelia\, pulsing synths\, disco strings and dance beats while video projections gyrate behind the band and lush ambience ties each song seamlessly to the next. As of Fall 2016 Cindy is performing “Change” in the continental USA. \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. \nAdditional reservations are not required if booth\, table\, or banquette tickets have been purchased via Ticketfly. \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show. SUMMARY:EARLY SHOW: Lawrence Trailer
DESCRIPTION:Lawrence Trailer is a singer/songwriter based out of Brooklyn\, NY. Partnered with 3x Grammy award winning producer/engineer Dave Clauss\, Trailer released an EP version of his second effort\, “The Places We’ve Been” December 2015\, and is hitting the road with an international tour and upcoming full length release. Lawrence utilizes vocal\, guitar\, and percussion loops to enhance his live show\, creating a unique brand of Americana Folk Pop. Armed with an acoustic guitar and loop station\, and married with his raw and honest energy\, Lawrence Trailer provides a dynamic experience that forges a connection and starts a conversation. \nTrailer recounts the meaning of his latest release during a recent interview with Planet Stereo Live: “”The Places We’ve Been”\, in its simplest form\, conveys the message: it’s not where you are\, it’s who you are. I traveled a lot the last few years\, and really learned that message first hand. So many different locations\, buildings\, cultures\, ethnicities\, politics\, and everything in between\, yet everyone I encountered was just like me. Everyone I met was someone I felt like I had met before. Everyone was the same. The more I learned about connectivity\, the more I realized that there was a reason for the similarities. That question lies at the root of what this album is all about and is what I hope to relay to audiences all over the world.” \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nTickets are not available for FREE shows. SUMMARY:Ansley Stewart Album Release with special guest\, Rick Lollar
DESCRIPTION:Whether singing one of her originals for an intimate audience\, or a Hall & Oates song for a wedding crowd\, Atlanta-based singer Ansley Stewart has been turning heads everywhere she goes and is poised to turn many more. Until recently\, she was a part-time musician and a full-time academic advisor for The University of Georgia’s Music Business program in her hometown of Athens. She had been singing semi-professionally in her free time for over a decade but her love of music\, her ambitions\, and her voice were just too big for her old life to hold. The turning point from weekend warrior to full-time singer/songwriter came in 2015 and she isn’t looking back. A stack of original songs\, a head full of influences like Aretha Franklin\, Susan Tedeschi and Bonnie Raitt (“no shrinking violets”)\, and hundreds of donations to a successful Kickstarter campaign have culminated in the completion of her first record and CD release in March. \nAlthough singing is not new to Ansley\, the desire to write her own songs is a recent development. “It’s all pretty personal right now\,” she says. “There are some really big stories and moments in my life that I feel like I need to get out through songwriting. But I still want to make it universal enough that someone else could say ‘Wow\, I’ve been through that’ or ‘Damn\, that’s catchy as hell.’” \nAnsley had been involved in music since her late teens\, singing in cover bands and doing session work for her friends’ original projects. She loved making music and felt an urge to do more\, but was in the middle of a secure career and was hesitant to change course. In 2014\, the Atlanta-based Emerald Empire Band began throwing gigs her way. The Emerald crew was taken by her savvy professionalism\, positivity to spare\, and voice to be reckoned with\, and they soon began imploring her to move to Atlanta. Life in Athens wasn’t bad for Ansley; she had a good job and owned a house. But she knew music was her greatest joy and on her 30th birthday\, made the decision to follow that path. She quit her job\, sold her house\, moved to Atlanta\, and has been singing nonstop ever since. \nThe career change has resulted in a happier Ansley than ever before. The music she makes every day and especially the people she makes it with are fulfilling her in ways she only dreamed of. In addition to finding her voice as an original artist and her footing as a professional\, she has found a supportive\, creative and generous musical family in her new home. “I’ve always wanted to be around creative people—in the treehouse\, as I say—and that’s what Atlanta has been. I didn’t even have to knock on the door. It was just open and everyone inside was like ‘Yo girl\, c’mon in! We got cake!’” \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. \nAdditional reservations are not required if a table\, booth or banquette have been purchased via Ticketfly. \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show. For example\, you may not be able to reserve a table at 7:00pm and keep it for a 9:00pm show. The only way to guarantee a seat for the show is to purchase booth or banquette tickets. Reservations for some table (4-top) seating may be available at www.venkmans.com (see “Reservations”)\, or by calling 470-225-6162. \nBar area and patio seating is reserved on a first-come\, first-serve basis. \nReservations for the Captain’s Room (private dining room) can be reserved for parties of 12-20 guests. For more info call 470-225-6162.
