DESCRIPTION:Atlanta R.E.M. tribute band the REMakes knows that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That’s the reason their covers of songs from R.E.M.’s early catalog (ranging from Chronic Town to Monster) are authentic and true to the original recordings. Playing the band’s biggest hits as well as deep album tracks\, the REMakes take their audience on a musical ride back to 1980s’ Athens\, Ga.  \nLead singer and guitar player Geoff Melkonian and bass player and backing vocalist Jeff Rosenberg have been playing together since they were 14 and R.E.M. was still an underground band. Melkonian and drummer Webb Vandiver began jamming when they were in their early 20s. But\, this year we will be incorporating and paying tribute to other artists/bands that have been affected by mental illness.  What will not be changing is that EVERY PENNY made by ticket sales\, raffle\, donations\, etc will be given to Nuci’s Space in Athens\, Ga. DESCRIPTION:A lovely blend of vocals\, piano\, viola and heart\, this unique cover band formed to participate in Drew Parents Got Talent\, a school PTA fundraiser at Eddie’s Attic last May. Kai\, Darlene and Jenny were so well-received they have performed at several more events since then\, including 3 more times at Eddie’s Attic\, Oakhurst’s Porchfest\, The Good Gracious Variety Show and Kirkyard Pub. Their combination of intricate arrangements\, vocal harmonies\, musicianship and fun makes them special\, and they are truly enjoying this new musical journey. They are very excited and honored to play at Venkman’s together for the first time! \nKai Martin has been singing and writing since she was little\, heavily influenced by her parents and classic musicians like Stevie Wonder\, Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack. She has performed in school choirs and various cover bands\, and has been a featured house music vocalist on projects with Solu Music and Ananda Project. She had the distinct honor of performing with ATL Collective at Venkman’s last September\, and enjoys regular “guest appearances” at Ms. Miller’s #IheARTandSOUL shows at Kat’s Cafe. Kai’s debut solo EP ‘All My Life’ is available on CD and all digital platforms. \nDarlene cut her teeth on piano stools and church pews in NE Mississippi\, otherwise known as Elvis country. Her earliest influences were southern gospel quartets and country artists such as Merle Haggard\, and she was later drawn toward the sounds of traditional and contemporary gospel\, jazz\, and blues. Despite holding a degree in piano and voice performance\, she prefers to learn everything by ear. She is credited for playing piano on three albums\, and is excited to play publicly again after many years away from music. \nJenny remembers well that fateful night at the Chinese restaurant in Lexington\, South Carolina\, when she consulted a fortune cookie for advice on whether to join the 5th grade band or orchestra. The cookie lied\, but she made a solid choice\, and her love of the viola stuck. Jenny played classical music dutifully until college\, when she started venturing out into folk music and wearing really bad hippie clothes. Once she hit the Athens music scene\, all bets were off\, and she had a spectacular time deciphering a great many new and different things you can do with music\, courtesy of playing with such cool cats as Flash to Bang Time\, Audition with Max Reinhardt\, and The Green Hornets. Friday JR is Jenny’s first gig where she gets to sing a lot.TICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. \nAdditional reservations are not required if a table\, booth or banquette have been purchased via Big Tickets. \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show. DESCRIPTION:Featuring Ben Bailey on drums and Dave Frackenpohl on guitar.  \nBorn in Chicago\, IL\, Matthew Kaminski has been playing the Hammond Organ since he was five years old. Studying under Chicago jazz pianist Gordon James in his teens\, Matthew was accepted into the University of Arizona’s jazz studies department as a jazz pianist. There\, he studied jazz with Dr. Jeffrey Haskell and Mike Eckroth\, and played in the jazz ensemble and combos as well as studying classical piano with Dr. Suzanne Knosp. Matthew also attended master classes by Wynton Marsalis and Kitty Margolis\, and performed with vibraphonists/marimba musicians Dave Samuels and Dave Friedman.  \nMatthew has a passion for jazz organ playing and has studied with Hammond B3 masters Ike Stubblefield\, Tony Monaco\, and Scott Giddens\, as well a sharing the stage with fellow organists Pat Bianchi\, Linda Dachtyl\, Wil Blades\, Todd Hildreth and guitarist Grant Green Jr. Additionally\, Matthew has been a full time piano teacher since 2001 and currently teaches at The North Fulton School of Music’s Atlanta locations\, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center\, and has taught at the college level for Georgia Tech in Atlanta\, GA.
