SUMMARY:Brandon Williams at Venkman's
DESCRIPTION:Brandon Williams is a musician\, composer\, and producer carrying the tradition of independent soul music and the adult contemporary format. Williams began exploring a career in music at the age of 12 when he formed a mentoring relationship with the Grammy-Award winning super producer Michael J. Powell. Powell is most recognized for his work with Anita Baker\, one of the most celebrated artists from Williams’ beloved hometown of Detroit\, MI. The relationship would change the course of Williams’ life as he mastered performing\, engineering\, musical directing\, arranging\, and producing. Brandon Williams’ mastery makes him a highly sought after talent in the studio as well as on stage\, also giving him the unique ability to play to the strength of collaborators no matter the genre. His work with indie-dominators like Eric Roberson and Frank McComb is just as effervescent as his work with hip-hop behemoths like Dr. Dre and Eminem. \nIn 2009\, Williams collaborated with Vicki Winans for the inspirational album “How I Got Over”. The project earned Williams a Grammy nomination\, an NAACP Image Award and one Stellar award with nine total nominations for the project. Throughout this time\, Brandon Williams remained an in-demand music-industry professional in many capacities but was most famed for his work as a drummer. Williams has toured nationally and internationally gracing the stages of premier venues around the world in addition to gracing studios with his genius from New York to South Africa. \nBrandon Williams is a sonic-architect and a front runner in an industry that is rapidly changing to favor artists who are in control of their careers. In 2014\, Williams released XII\, his first album on his independent label Soulasis Music Group. The full-length project was a sweeping and romantic homage to the “producer’s album” popularized by Quincy Jones who gave his seal of approval to Williams’ debut. The album featured career-defining performances for artists like Alex Isley and Moonchild while calling on the bonafide talents of Jean Baylor (formerly of Zhane) and Robert Glasper. \nThe accomplishments for Brandon Williams extend past the stage and studio into the realm of television. Williams’ music production can be heard in various television commercials between 2011-2016 for brand and celebrity partnerships with AT&T\, Honda\, ?uestove (The Roots\, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) and Young Guru (Jay Z\, Beyonce). His work can also be heard on Oprah Winfrey’s Greenleaf. \nAt 39 years old\, Brandon Williams has cemented his legacy as a tastemaker with an undeniable track record. In his own words-“While always listening to the whispers of God during the creative process\, I’m striving to continue to be among the artists that bring good music back to the forefront of the world’s ear. Real good\, feel good\, life-altering\, soul-healing music is what I’m all about.” \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show. For example\, it is unlikely to be able to reserve a table at 8:00pm and keep it for a 10:00pm show. The only way to guarantee a seat for the show is to purchase table\, booth\, or banquette tickets. \nBar area and patio seating is reserved on a first-come\, first-serve basis. \nReservations for the Captain’s Room (private dining room) can be reserved for parties of 12-20 guests. SUMMARY:Beyond the Neighborhood: The Music of Fred Rogers
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Grammy-nominated pianist\, Kevin Bales \nChicago Vocalist\, Keri Johnsrud \nDrummer\, Marlon Patton \nBassist\, Billy Thornton \nGrammy-winning Saxophonist\, Mace Hibbard \nGuitarist\, Trey Wright \nAnd many special guests from our musical neighborhood \nFred McFeely Rogers – the cardigan-wearing\, sneaker-shod\, quintessentially gentle Presbyterian \nminister known as Mister Rogers on the award-winning children’s TV show that aired for nearly 35 \nyears – also wrote the songs he sang on his program. He wrote a lot of songs\, and he wrote them \nwell. As a kid\, you might not have noticed the craftsmanship of these songs but as an adult\, you \ncan’t miss it. These songs left their mark on three generations of children who made Mister Roger’s \nNeighborhood part of their after-school routine. \nThe songs\, which up until now were specifically tailored for his children’s show\, are now presented \nas reinvented gems that are wise and wistful\, simple but not simplistic\, and even\, in some cases\, a \nbit sultry. In this concert\, Mister Rogers’ songs not only relate to adults; they seem to have been \nwritten for adults in the first place. \nKevin Bales  \nBy some measures\, Kevin Bales was a latecomer to jazz\, already 17 when he encountered the \nsounds and structures and became captivated by the freedom and corresponding challenges of the \nmusic. But if late to the party\, he wasted no time in immersing himself in the celebration\, declaring \ntotal commitment to what would be his life’s work and backing his announcement by resigning his \njob and designated career in computer programming. \nKevin could commit to jazz with a reasonable degree of expectation. He was already an \naccomplished pianist\, with classical chops refined since the age of 10. So accomplished he was \ninvited to audition for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra\, then under the direction of its most storied \nconductor Robert Shaw\, at age 16. Kevin’s initial career move was to the University of North Florida \nand a budding if little-known jazz program. \nThere he met and performed with\, and went on to record and tour with\, a number of monumental \nartists who had settled into that burgeoning North Florida jazz scene. Giants like Wynton Marsalis\, \nLouie Bellson\, Eddie Daniels\, James Moody\, Ben Tucker\, Ira Sullivan\, Sam Rivers\, and Nat \nAdderley. He counts among his mentors bassist Ben Tucker\, multi-instrumentalist Ira Sullivan\, guitar \nlegends Nathen Page and Jack Petersen\, and the fiercely individual saxophonist Bunky Green. His \nmeeting with Bunky Green led to five years of tours. His encounter with guitarist Nathen Page \nblossomed into 15 years of spot tours and four albums. And his work with trumpeter extraordinaire \nMarcus Printup has become a lifetime association that has included recordings on Blue Note/Capital \nrecords. Ten years touring and recording with vocal iconoclast Rene Marie culminated in the a \nGrammy Nominated album. \nFew artists have the patience for teaching – as are few teachers accomplished players. But Kevin \nhas amassed a reputation for his prowess in both professions. While still a senior at North Florida he \nwas drafted into a full teaching load\, and continued to be an integral part of the school’s jazz \nprogram for upwards of a decade. Today\, Kevin manages his own jazz program\, overseeing an \nambitious schedule of ambitious jazz students. \nKevin has amassed a long list of awards and a reputation as one of the finest jazz pianists \nperforming anywhere. In 1994\, less than a decade into jazz\, he won the American Pianist \nAssociation’s Jazz Piano Competition. In addition to nearly every important jazz venue in the South\, \nhe has performed in some of the most acclaimed clubs and festivals in America and around the \nworld: the JVC Jazz Festival in New York\, The Bakery in Los Angeles\, The Kennedy Center and \nLincoln Center jazz series\, the Toronto and Edinburgh jazz festivals\, and the \nMoscow Center for the Performing Arts. \n \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nReservations for the Captain’s Room (private dining room) can be reserved for parties of 12-24 guests. For more info contact info@venkmans.com. Purchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. \nAdditional reservations are not required if a table\, booth or banquette have been purchased via Big Tickets.  \nBar area and patio seating is reserved on a first-come\, first-serve basis.

SUMMARY:Yacht Rock Revue Turkey Eve
DESCRIPTION:You’re Welcomesgiving\, Nation of Smooth! \n“Thanksgiving is an emotional holiday. People travel thousands of miles to be with people they only see once a year. And then discover once a year is way too often.” -Johnny Carson \nJoin us for our annual Yacht Rock Turkey Eve show at Venkman’s. \nThe Yacht Rock Revue™ is the Greatest Show on Surf and the finest tribute to ‘70s light rock to ever perform anywhere. Ever. Their spot-on renditions of Hall & Oates\, Michael McDonald\, Steely Dan\, and the rest of the Time-Life Infomercial Catalog have enthralled fans across the United States. It goes without saying they have taken their act to the high seas\, performing showcase sets on music cruises with Weezer\, Kid Rock\, Train\, Zac Brown Band\, Sister Hazel\, and fitness guru Jillian Michaels. \nBy blurring the lines between a tribute\, an original act\, and a comedic troupe\, the Yacht Rock Revue™ has forged a unique niche market and a special bond with their fans. The band attacks each song as if it were their own\, and the energy exchanged between the band and the crowd has more in common with a stadium U2 show than that of a typical bar band. \nThe band has won accolades ranging from “Best Place to Get Drunk With Your Dad” to “Best Overall Music Act in Atlanta” to “Best Place to Start an Extramarital Affair\,” and has been name-dropped by the New York Times\, Pitchfork\, the Guardian UK\, Spin\, TimeOut New York\, Billboard\, MTV.com\, and (probably) your mom at her last cocktail party. \nSpeaking of name-dropping\, members of the band have played on-stage with members of Weezer\, Billy Joel\, Walter Egan\, .38 Special\, John Mayer\, Zac Brown Band\, Little River Band\, Sheryl Crow\, Noel Gallagher\, Starbuck\, Sarah McLachlan\, Don Henley\, Lynyrd Skynyrd\, Neil Finn\, Jellyfish\, Devo\, Nine Inch Nails\, Joan Jett\, Wet Willie\, Bon Jovi\, Skid Row\, and the Saturday Night Live Band. (None of those were a joke.) \nThe Yacht Rock Revue™ has packed out shows at historic venues including the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta\, the Knitting Factory in New York City\, Athens’ famed Georgia Theatre\, Washington DC’s State Theatre\, and Nashville’s Mercy Lounge. They played at the finish line of the Peachtree Road Race for 50\,000+ two years running; played on Turner Field for 30\,000 fans on July 4; and sang the National Anthem at Braves Manager Bobby Cox’s last game. \nThe Yacht Rock Revue™ goes beyond the smooth to perform under many aliases: Please PleaseRock Me (Beatles)\, Reagan Rock (Smooth ’80s) Uno Dos Tres Catorce (U2)\, Dazed and Confused (’70s Stoner Rock)\, Rock Fight (Led Zeppelin vs. the Who\, Tom Petty vs. Fleetwood Mac\, etc.) and so forth. \nYacht Rock Revue™ also performs many classic albums in their entirety\, including Michael Jackson’s Thriller\, Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon\, Prince’s Purple Rain\, the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band\, XTC’s Black Sea\, and Led Zeppelin IV. \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nDoors open at 7:00 PM \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. \nAdditional reservations are not required if a booth\, table\, or banquette has been purchased via Big Tickets \n

SUMMARY:The REMakes Thanksgiving show!! Celebrating the epic R.E.M. Thanksgiving shows of the ‘80s with special guests.
DESCRIPTION:Atlanta R.E.M. tribute band the REMakes knows that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That’s the reason their covers of songs from R.E.M.’s early catalog (ranging from Chronic Town to Monster) are authentic and true to the original recordings. Playing the band’s biggest hits as well as deep album tracks\, the REMakes take their audience on a musical ride back to 1980s’ Athens\, Ga. \nLead singer and guitar player Geoff Melkonian and bass player and backing vocalist Jeff Rosenberg have been playing together since they were 14 and R.E.M. was still an underground band. Melkonian and drummer Webb Vandiver began jamming when they were in their early 20s. Out of a love and passion for the music they grew up with\, the three musicians came together in 2009 as the REMakes. \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table and will be STANDING ROOM ONLY \nAdditional reservations are not required if a table\, booth\, or banquette has been purchased via Big Tickets. \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show. For example\, you cannot reserve a table at 8:00pm and keep it for a 10:00pm show. The only way to guarantee a seat for the show is to purchase booth or banquette tickets. \nReservations for the Captain’s Room (private dining room) can be reserved for parties of 12-24 guests. SUMMARY:Bottomless Mimosa Brunch with Rodeo Twister
DESCRIPTION:Rodeo Twister play original rockabilly and honky-tonk music the way God intended it: without the use of them demon drums! But don’t worry your toes won’t tap or your hips won’t shake. The slap of the upright bass and the chugga-chugga of the rhythm guitar keep the beat just as good as the crack of snare – maybe even better. The three Twisters are veterans of Atlanta’s “Redneck Underground” roots music scene and have been members of so many “Best of Atlanta” lists they’ve lost count. Now all together for the first time\, they’re bringing a huge crop of brand-new songs and choice covers plus a secret weapon – some of the sweetest two and three-part harmonies you’ve ever heard. And you can hear ‘em\, too… without all that bangedy-bang of them demon drums! \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nTickets are not available for FREE shows.
