SUMMARY:Hot Buttered Soul an Isaac Hayes Tribute
DESCRIPTION:Hot Buttered Soul is a tribute to the music of Isaac Hayes and Stax Records. In the spirit of shows like\, Motown The Musical\, Smokey Joe’s café and Memphis\, HBS is a high energy\, choreographed trip down memory lane to the roots of soul music and the sounds born in Memphis\, TN. \nIn 1962 Isaac Hayes auditioned for Stax records and by 1964 became a vital part of the house band that would be so crucial to the label’s sound. He\, along with his writing partner David Porter would go on to craft many of the label’s biggest hits and perform the backing tracks on most of the others. The duo\, along with Steve Cropper\, Donald “Duck” Dunn\, Al Jackson\, Jr. and Booker T Jones were collectively known as the “Big Six” within the walls of Stax and were (either as a group or in various combinations) responsible for producing almost all of the label’s output from about 1963 through 1969. \nIn 1972 Hayes was awarded the Academy Award for Best Original Song for\n“Theme from Shaft”. He became the third African-American\, after Sidney Poitier and Hattie McDaniel\, to win an Academy Award in any competitive field covered by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He also won two Grammy Awards that same year. Later\, he was given his third Grammy for his music album Black Moses. \nThe show treats the audience to a ringside seat as they witness the beginnings of the era that made Stax records and Memphis the epicenter of soul music during the 60’s and 70’s. Hayes’ daughter Heather and her band perform and tell stories about the songs\, the sessions\, the artists and the music written\, produced and performed by her dad at Stax and beyond. \nThis is the story of a great career and the magic that started in Memphis and thrilled the globe. \nShow includes music from: \nCarla Thomas\nBooker T & The MGs\nOtis Redding\nSam & Dave\nIsaac Hayes\nRufus Thomas\nEddie Floyd\nWilliam Bell\nJohnnie Taylor\nThe Staple Singers\nJean Knight\nDionne Warwick\nMichael Jackson\nThe Emotions\nEarth\, Wind & Fire \nTICKETING & RESERVATION INFO: \nPurchasing a General Admission ticket does not guarantee a seat/table. \nAdditional reservations are not required if a table\, booth or banquette have been purchased via Ticketfly. \nPLEASE NOTE: If earlier dinner reservations are made\, your seats are not guaranteed for the show. For example\, it is unlikely to be able to reserve a table at 8:00pm and keep it for a 10:00pm show. The only way to guarantee a seat for the show is to purchase table\, booth\, or banquette tickets. \nBar area and patio seating is reserved on a first-come\, first-serve basis. \nReservations for the Captain’s Room (private dining room) can be reserved for parties of 10-24 guests.
