Clashinista with Smithsonian
Event Navigation
1979 — the musical landscape continued to move at a rapid pace since punk’s origins just a few years earlier. Post punk and new wave now dominated the aural fabric of underground music. In Atlanta the leading venue for that underground music, at that time, was the Agora Ballroom (located in the grand ballroom of the Georgian Terrace) and the “Only Band that Mattered” made their first Atlanta appearance at the Agora in October 2, 1979. Forty years later nearly to the date Clashinista will reproduce The Clash’s set in its entirety. With hits spanning the early catalog through songs from the yet to be released classic, London Calling, Clashinsta will deliver the incendiary live show that they are famous for!
Smithsonian is a band composed of five veterans of the Atlanta music scene who have united in their affection for the short but sweet career of The Smiths. Bret Busch (Pardner, The Hots) on vocals, David Chase (PLS PLS, Dropsonic) on bass, John Speaks (Map of the Moon, Young Antiques) on drums, and Jim Prible (Opal Foxx Quartet, Poodles, Seersucker) and Lindell Todd (Pineal Ventana, Victory Girls, Silver Lakes) on guitars are making their way through the entire Smiths catalogue.
