ATL Collective relives Portishead’s Dummy

ATL Collective’s got one of the cooler albums they’ve ever tackled coming up at Venkman’s at 10pm on October 7th: Portishead’s darkly sublime debut Dummy. It’s really an astonishing debut from a then-completely unknown band. And though the sound has been copied time and time again, when Dummy was released in 1994, Portishead’s trip hop sound, complete with its soft synth pads, crystal drum tone, down beat tempos, and smoke-infused vocals was totally new. Prepare yourself to be mesmerized from first to last note. Very special guests, The Deer, join the Collective to bring this album to life.
