EARLY SHOW: TJ Edmond

Event Navigation

T.J. Edmond was born in Detroit, but grew up in the mountain towns of Colorado and the South Carolina Lowcountry. He spent a snowy winter in Rochester, New York working at a music store, where he’d lock up the store at the end of the day and spend all night in the basement writing songs and recording demos, before deciding to pursue music and move to Atlanta in 2004. His music, like his accent, comes out like a familiar, if hard to pinpoint, amalgamation of influences North, South, East and West.

With comparisons to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Ryan Adams, Counting Crows, and Johnny Cash, he writes vivid and honest songs that could be rock, pop, Americana, country or blues, but they are always about the story. In 2005 he formed the roots/rock powerhouse, The Beggars’ Guild, in Atlanta. The band recorded two CD’s , received modest radio play in Atlanta and NYC and landed slots opening for Zac Brown Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Dierks Bentley, and Drivin’ ’n’ Cryin’. After an eight year stint in Athens, and nearly as long a hiatus from performing, he returned to Atlanta and reformed the band in 2016 while also performing the occasional solo show.
